GM Harutyunyan Gevorg

Gevorg Harutjunyan was born in 1981, in Yerevan. He graduated from the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports with a specialization in pedagogy. Gevorg obtained a Chess Grandmaster degree in 2009. He participated in and won a number of national and international chess tournaments. Here are some highlights of his professional achievements:

- 1994, 1996, 1998 Champion of different age championships; - 2001-2003 Winner of the 1st Yerevan Men's League; - 2008 Won 1-3 prizes in the "Rector Cup" tournament; - 2009 Took the 3rd place in the "Khazar Cup" tournament; - 2011 Took the 1st place in the "Noruuz Cup" tournament; - 2012 Took the 1st place in the "First Saturday" tournament; - 2012 Took the 1st place in the "Shiraz Ramazan Cup" tournament; - 2014 Took the 3rd place in "Zudov Memorial"; - 2014 Took the 3rd place in the "Russian Cup" tournament; - 2014 Took the 3rd place in the "Alborz Cup" tournament; - 2016 Took 1-2 places in the "Paytakht Open" tournament; - 2017 Took the 3rd place in the "Roquetas Del Mar Open" tournament; - 2017 Took 3-8 places in the "Sevilla Open" tournament; - 2017-2018 Winner of the Armenian Club Championship; - 2018 Took the 1st place in the "Innsbruck Open" tournament; - 2018 Took the 3rd place in the "Imperia Open" tournament; - 2018 Took the 2nd place in the "Max Zavanelli" Memorial tournament; - 2019 Took the 2nd place in the "Panavezys" tournament; - 2019 Took the 3rd place in the "Alba Julia Open" tournament; - 2019 Took the 3rd place in the "Riga Term Eko Cuo" tournament; - 2020 Took the 3rd place in the "Caspian Cup" tournament.

Gevorg Harutjunyan is considered one of the best coaches of the Chess Academy of Armenia having over 20 years of chess coaching experience. Some of his remarkable chess coaching results are:

- Astghik Harutyunyan. European vice-champion U-14.
- Personal coach of Alireza Firouzja. Persian absolute champion of men, top grandmaster.
- Personal coach of GM Gholami Aryan.
- Personal coach of IM Daneshvar Bardiya.
- Personal coach of Woman International Master Alinasab Mobina - Double Champion of Asia, 3-time Champion of Persia.

​Gevorg’s coaching experience includes:

- From 2005 to 2010 worked at the Children and Youth Olympic Draughts and Chess School after Henrik Gasparyan.
- From 2005 to 2006 worked at the Chess Academy of Armenia.
- Worked for 2 years at the Levon Aronian and Gabriel Sargsyan Chess School
- From 2019 to the present works at the Chess Academy of Armenia

Gevorg has lots of experience coaching chess virtually, with students from all parts of the world. Gevorg can tutor chess in Armenian, English, Russian, and Persian languages.
